GERD Hoarsely

Hoarsely If the acidic juices regularly flow upwards to the upper part of the esophagus and the sphincter, they can affect the throat and even the larynx, eventually leading to a hoarse voice and a sore throat.

GERD Dry Cough

Dry cough Those with GERD typically suffer from an unexplained and constant cough - particularly at night or while lying down.

GERD Sore Throat

Sore Throat GERD can irritate the throat and respiratory tract if the acids flow upward, causing a sore throat and the feeling of a constant knot that is not removed. As a result, GERD patients can constantly clear their throats.

GERD Symptoms

Dyspepsia Or more commonly known as indigestion, dyspepsia causes mild to severe stomach pain and is most common after meals.

What is GERD?

It is a chronic disease that occurs when stomach acid or bile ascends through the esophagus, which irritates its lining. When acid reflux and heartburn happen more than twice a week, they can be a sign of gastroesophageal reflux. Symptoms include a burning sensation in the chest, which usually appears after eating and worsens when lying down. The relief provided by changes in lifestyle and over-the-counter medications are often temporary. Stronger medications are needed.

Gastric Acid Inhibitors And Iron Deficiency: Confirmed Association.

Numerous animal, as well as human clinical trials support the conclusion that the absorption of iron is markedly increased by gastric acidity. Several clinical conditions associated with achlorhydria/ hypochlorhydria (atrophic gastritis, pernicious anemia, gastric resections, vagotomy) have been shown to be associated with decreased iron absorption and/or iron-deficiency anemia. (Ito and Jensen 2010) According to that, it could be expected that the regular consumption of acid suppressing medicines also affects the absorption of iron, leading to iron deficiency-associated problems. The most recent study conducted to verify this hypothesis was published in a well-known scientific journal; Gastroenterology, in March 2017. The article was titled “Proton Pump Inhibitor and Histamine-2 Receptor Antagonist Use and Iron Deficiency” and concluded that “gastric acid inhibitor use for ≥2 years was associated with an increased subsequent risk of iron deficiency…” (Lam, et al. 2017) Th
